Age Is Significant In Utah’S Divorce Rate

It is not surprising that Utah is not only known for being the happiest state, but Utah has the largest Mormon population in the United States. This is, of course, because Utah is the center of the Mormon faith. Those who are Mormon have a firm belief in family and togetherness. In Utah, 55% of the population is a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The next state to have the most Mormon population is Idaho at 19%. Faith encourages young men and women to marry early and grow as a family. However, no matter how much faith one has in a marriage, sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Sometimes marriages end in divorce. Even though this isn’t the most favorable outcome, divorce doesn’t mean that your life is over.

Marriage Rate

Utah has a high marriage rate. People tend to get married more in Utah because of the emphasis on marriage due to religious beliefs. However, because the religious expectation is to marry early, couples tend to get divorced earlier too. Those who divorce early in life tend to date more afterward and try to get married again. This does not really happen to those who get married and then divorce much later in life. So, even though Utah has a high marriage rate, it doesn’t mean that first marriages are sticking. Sometimes people find their true partners in their second or third marriage.

So what does this mean for you? It means that you are human. You are normal. If you and your spouse are not happy and struggling to make the relationship work then divorce may be the solution you are looking for. In order to ease the process of divorce, there is “legal separation“. This is a temporary separation in which after a year you must decide whether you are staying together or divorcing. This option is helpful because it gives you and your spouse time to figure out the logistics of your relationship as well as emotional issues within the relationship.
